Empowerment and Confidence as We Age
Jun 19, 2024Aging is both a privilege and a challenge. The older we get, the more we realise there is to learn. One of the things I love about getting older, is the wisdom that has come with experience, and the confidence that has also come with it. I've done so many things, travelled to so many places, been in so many different situations. And then I became a parent! That changed or amplified my personality.
Recently, I spoke with Frances Scadden, who is an Empowerment and Confidence Coach. Her own journey, experience and study has made her incredibly wise. She has a great perspective on confidence and how to help women in their 40s and 50s to gain or regain that confidence.
Recognising that confidence is an emotion, rather than a skill, it's something that comes and goes and is very much situational.
One of the things she said that I loved was to write and keep an Evidence Journal. Something that you can refer back to when your confidence is feeling shaky, so you can prove to yourself that you can do anything you put your mind to. Because you have done things that were outside your comfort zone before, and survived and likely also thrived as a result!
